WaystoneBorrowed Steps
No stone belongs to you.
Only the journey does.
How a borrowed step works +
1. Choose from your nearest occupied row. South starts at the bottom; North starts at the top. Both players use the same twelve stones.
2. Walk the number. A stone marked 1, 2 or 3 travels exactly that many orthogonal squares. It may turn corners, but cannot pass through a stone or reuse an edge during the journey.
3. Borrow, or lift. Land exactly on a stone to continue with its number. Each stone may be borrowed once per journey. Or end there, lift that stone and place it on a permitted empty square. It cannot be placed behind your opponent’s nearest occupied row. A move must change the board.
4. Reach the far gate. Finish your exact count one step past the opposite edge. The highlighted destinations include every legal chain; select one to preview its route. The local rival checks immediate threats, but is a practice opponent.
Controls. Click or tap. Tab and Enter work on every control; arrow keys move focus across the grid. Escape cancels a selection. New table and lessons replace the current board. Undo restores the last human turn. Saves are automatic. No automatic repetition draw.
The board is quiet. Make the first journey.
